As a backpacker in my twenties I remember coming to Sydney after travelling to numerous countries and thinking this is the most beautiful city in the world.

Now in my forties, living in Wollongong I was so so excited when I received the best gift voucher, a personalised helicopter ride over sydney for two. 


I thought Sydney was beautiful from car, boat and foot but nothing prepared me for the magnificent sights of a Sydney Scenic flight with Pterodactyl Helicopters.  This by far was the best tour of Sydney.

What really initially impressed me before the sights Sydney from air was the helicopter.

When you book a flight with Sydney Helicopters, Pterodactyl Helicopters it is really only for two people and the pilot.  This made the experience so much better as last year I took a Helicopter flight from Las Vegas over the Grand Canyon with my husband.  Unfortunately we were not impressed as others leaned over us to get the perfect pictures from the helicopter and obstructed out views.

The helicopter itself added to the experience, an historic Bell 47, made famous by the t.v series M*A*S*H.  We got to choose if we wanted a doors on or doors off experience, we naturally requested doors off for the best experience.

Pterodactyl, Sydney Helicopter Charter  to Sydney Harbour and back is around 40-45 min, departing from its own hangar at Bankstown Aerodrome. 

From the air Sydney is even more beautiful.  Tracking up Parramatta River towards Sydney Harbour is so special.

Even before flying over the top of the southern pylon of  he harbour bridge and embracing the views of the Opera House, Fort Denison and the Sydney City Skyline.
